When is Excelsior Firecracker this year?

The Excelsior Firecracker Run is on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Where is Excelsior Firecracker?

All races will begin at Excelsior Elementary School, near the playground, and end in Excelsior Commons.

Race Start: Excelsior Elementary School, 441 Oak Street, Excelsior, MN 55331

Where/When is Packet Pick-Up or Day-Of Registration?

Packet pick-up will be available at Excelsior Elementary School Gymnasium:

  • Friday, July 3: 2–6 PM
  • Saturday, July 4: 6–7:15 AM (day-of registration available until 7:15 AM)

Please enter through the front doors of the school and walk straight ahead. The gymnasium will be visible from the entrance.

Where can I park? 

Parking is available in the West Public Parking Ramp, East Public Parking Lot, and surrounding neighborhood streets. Please note that Lake Street will be closed as it will be used for food trucks and the race finish line setup. Please refer to the Excelsior Parking Map for additional details.

All parking questions should be directed to Interstate Parking.

Can I have more race information?

There is a 1-mile race beginning at 7:30 AM, 10k race beginning at 7:50 AM and the 5k starting at 8 AM. You can find the race routes on our home page. Strollers and walkers are allowed. This is a chipped and timed race. Results will be available on the website following the event.

What if I have to cancel?

The race is non-refundable. For transfer requests, please email mercury@elmcc.org

Can I register the day-of?

Yes, you can register the day-of the race online or in person until 7:15 AM. Race shirts and cotton t-shirts will be available in limited quantity for purchase on a first come first serve basis during packet pick up on 7/3 and 7/4.

Are dogs allowed?
For the safety of our participants, we ask that you leave your furry friends at home!

Are strollers allowed?
Yes!

Can I walk the 1-mile, 5k or 10k?

Absolutely! Participants are welcome to walk any of the events. Please note the course will be swept at 10:00 AM.

What if I register AFTER June 18th?

Participants who register after June 18th will not have the option to register with shirt. Race shirts and cotton t-shirts will be available in limited quantity for purchase on a first come first serve basis during packet pick up on 7/3 and 7/4.

Is there food and drink available?

Yes! Water stops will be available along the route as well as at the finish line. Download the RunGo app to follow along with audio directions and locate water stops.

Water Stops:

  • #1: Excelsior Blvd & Byron Circle (in front of Old Log Theatre) – 5K & 10K outgoing (5K returning onto Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail)
  • #2: Cottagewood Rd & Minnetonka Blvd – 10K outgoing
  • #3: Manor Park – 10K outgoing
  • #4: Finish Line – Excelsior Commons Park

In addition, food and drink vendors will be on site in the Commons with items available for purchase from 10:00 AM–10:00 PM.

What would I have to pay for?

Any purchases from food vendors and event merchandise are available for sale. Food vendor pricing is set by each individual vendor.

What happens in case of emergency or lost/found?

First Aid, emergency responders, and lost & found will be located at the finish line. Additional first aid and emergency response will also be available on course at Manor Park.

Where are bathrooms located?

Portable restrooms are located at Excelsior Elementary School, along the race route at Manor Park, Kowalski’s, and Excelsior Commons Park.

Where can spectators watch the race?

Beginning, end, and anywhere along the course.
